What version of the ALDL logging cable do you have, PC or Palm? The only difference between the two cables is how the receive and transmit are connected.

On the palm cable, P2 is transmit, P3 is receive, and P5 is ground.

On the laptop version, P2 is receive, P3 is transmit, and P5 is ground.

Here is a visual aid: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tuning-engine-management/253129-pda-cable-laptop-cable-cable-get-all-steve-wiseman-i-need-you.html

If the problem is that you have the palm version of the cable, then you'll need a null modem adapter to switch the pins, P2 and P3, or a PC spec cable. Also, check your COM port setting.

Good Luck!
